Our weekly morning Running club starts bright and early among the beautiful open spaces of Hurlingham Park. We apply interval training techniques around a 150-metre circular track on the Astroturf. This varies from short 50-metre sprints to longer distances of up to 600 metres, with a small break in between laps. It is a great way to get the children’s stamina up to the demands of cross-country running. The motivating thing about interval training is there is always a light at the end of the tunnel as the finish line is never far from sight! It is also a real bonding experience for the children, who invariably cheer each other on to the very end.
