Our St Patrick’s Day assembly

Last week we held a special assembly in honour of St Patrick, the patron Saint of Ireland. St Patrick’s day is traditionally a celebration of Irish culture and traditions. It was very special to see Miss Dulcie’s Darling Dancers perform a lively routine of Irish dance and Miss Dulcie showcase her skills as a dancer and member of the renowned production Riverdance. The Year 6 pupils’ drama depicted the life of St Patrick and Miss Aoife’s singers rounded off the occasion with renditions of Irish tunes, all of which were superb. We have several members of staff who hail from Ireland, which made for a very memorable occasion. Events such as this help the children understand about different cultures and the ways in which other people celebrate traditions, beliefs and their heritage. We look forward to recognising other culturally significant days that reflect our school community.
