quiz night at school
Friends of Parsons Green Prep

A big thank you to Kate for running FOPGP (Friends of Parsons Green Prep) so well. The Spring term began with the crowd-pleasing children’s disco, featuring Sharky & George, and wrapped up with the perennially popular Quiz Night and Art Auction. Thank you to everyone that came and donated and a special mention to George for his charismatic auctioneering. Lastly, FOPGP is thrilled to officially welcome its new President, Nicky, whose enthusiasm guarantees more fun to be had. The Summer term’s highlights include an ice cream van visit, parents’ summer event and the summer sale.

Art

There have been many exciting projects in art and the children have learnt new skills and applied them to some amazing artwork. Year 6 studied the art of batik and used hot wax to act as a resist on their cushion designs. Year 4 experimented with a variety of watercolour techniques to enhance their paintings. In other lessons the children have made Egyptian canopic jars, created pen and ink drawings of the London skyline, constructed natural sculptures and produced drawings and collages of rivers. You can read about art and other subjects at PGP here.

ISA U11 girls netball competition

We had great success in the U11 ISA girls netball competition, with the team reaching the quarter-finals of the cup competition and enjoying excellent wins against Sherfield school, Waverley Prep and Highfield Prep. Well done to all the players.

House matches

Williams won the Year 3 and 4 football house matches, with two excellent wins and a draw. In the Year and 6 matches, Earhart played some excellent football, winning all of their matches to come first. Well played everyone!

Year 5 trip to British Museum

Year 5 went on a school trip to the British Museum and were transported back in time to the world of Greek mythology. Immersed in a captivating workshop, we listened to engaging tales of gods, goddesses and epic heroes. We then saw the awe-inspiring Elgin marbles and enjoyed the craftmanship and historical significance of them. This has set us in good stead for our Humanities topic of Ancient Greece.
