Posted: 16th July 2024

Bird Painting
Runner-up in Sky Arts Competition

Congratulations to Frederik in Year 4. He was one of the runners-up in an art competition run by Sky Arts with his bird painting. There were 1,500 entries from 144 different schools so he did amazingly well and the whole school is very proud of him. You can see the video at https://vimeo.com/949857174/d1f4ceeaaa?share=copy – well done to all the pupils on their beautiful pictures.

Years 3 and 4 win at cricket

Year 3 and Year 4 travelled to Kew Green Prep to play four cricket fixtures. It was excellent to see the progress the children have been making and they achieved four impressive wins. Well done to everyone for taking part and thank you to Kew Green Prep for hosting.

Cycling training for Year 6

Bikeability is a cycle training programme for primary schools to encourage even more students to cycle safely to and from their school. Our Year 6 pupils fearlessly got onto their bikes this week to practise a number of core skills including how to be alert at all times, turning safely, signalling, emergency stops and changing gears. We learnt all these skills on the school playground and got to put these skills into practice safely on the local roads around our school. Well done Year 6 for learning new skills and for demonstrating marvellous resilience from start to finish.

The PGP Spelling Bee

A huge congratulations to the competitors in the final of PGP’s Spelling Bee. Three finalists from Years 1 to 6 confidently spelt words from their list of 100 challenging words and the competition was strong. Well done! You can read about our English curriculum for Year 1 to 6 here.

ISA London West Athletics competition

PGP’s top athletes in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 travelled to Thames Valley Athletics Centre to compete in this year’s ISA London West Athletics competition. The children competed in the disciplines of short-distance running, 600m, cricket ball throw, long jump and high jump. Athlete of the day goes to Tara in Year 5, who won her 75m race, finishing in a time of 11.13 seconds. Tara’s time was also the second fastest out of all of the races – a fantastic achievement! The standard of competition was very high and the children represented the school brilliantly. Well done to the athletes and thank you to Claires Court School for organising a great event.
