Reception’s new certificate, Children’s Mental Health Week and Year 3 visit the Science Museum

Posted: 5th March 2025

Congratulations to our superb Reception team (Mr Lee, Miss Hannah, Miss Suzie and Miss Ellie-Mae) for achieving the Healthy Early Years London First Steps and receiving our certificate signed by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. This means that Parsons Green Prep has taken important steps to improve the health, wellbeing and development of our children, staff and families. You can find out more about the awards scheme here. Well done everyone!

Safer Internet Day Zoom

For Safer Internet Day our Head, Dr Pamela Edmonds, joined a Zoom Q&A with Sophie Windsor, Hugh Grant and author Jonathan Haidt to discuss the use of technology in schools and the promotion of children’s wellbeing and safety. You can read more about it here.

Children’s Mental Health Week

The theme was Know Yourself, Grow Yourself for this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week. We want to equip and empower children, young people, and the adults who surround them to embrace self-awareness and explore what it means to them. Each year Place2Be experts create fun and engaging resources for families, parents and carers to take part in Children’s Mental Health Week.

This year we partnered with Here4You, supported by the Inside Out 2 characters, to explore our theme Know Yourself, Grow Yourself. The children took part in a variety of different activities across the week. There are several great resources for families on the website here, should you wish to explore anything further at home. By taking part in Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health Week 2025, we can help to ensure that children and young people across the UK feel listened to and know that they’re not alone.

Year 3 head for the Science Museum

Mr Brendan is proud of his young scientists in Year 3. The class had an exciting day at the Science Museum before half-term. They explored fascinating exhibits and engaged in a wonderful ‘Forces’ workshop. The hands-on experiments and discoveries made learning fun and memorable – a big thank you to the Science Museum for a great excursion.
