In the spring term our pupils worked hard in music with Miss Emma. A special mention goes to our Year 2 students, who have been progressing with Level 2 recorders - several of them even achieved a merit! Well done.

Sushi Day, the FOPGP Disco and Safer Internet Day 2025

Posted: 4th March 2025

Parsons Green Prep experienced a taste of Japan with our Sushi Day. Pupils rolled up to learn the different types of sushi and then enjoyed a delightful sushi feast in the hall. It was a fantastic day of learning about food around the world while promoting wellbeing and healthy eating. A big thank you to the Thomas Franks team, including visiting chef Mary Ann, for this tasty spread.

The FOPGP Disco

We have a fantastic community at Parsons Green Prep and our Friends of Parsons Green Prep (FOPGP) disco for the pupils is a highlight in the social calendar. Our parents know how to throw a party! With sequins sparkling and Sharky & George playing new and old tunes on the decks, everyone danced the afternoon away. A huge thank you to FOPGP for organising this fabulous annual event.

The History of Music

In the first half of the Spring 2025 term Miss Emma finished a lovely project with the Prep pupils in music. They have been exploring ‘The History of Music’, looking specifically at the 1930s, 1950s, 1960s and 1980s. The pupils got to work in small groups and composed a song that was inspired by their favourite artist of this time. Well done everyone!

Safer Internet Day 2025

This year 170 countries took part in Safer Internet Day 2025, including pupils at Parsons Green Prep. The school worked together in teams, across year groups, to take part in this year’s theme, ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online’. The tasks were interactive and encouraged discussion.

Lessons from Japan

Our Head, Dr Edmonds, was fortunate to have the opportunity to live and work in Japan. She experienced a wide range of Japanese traditions and learnt hugely from several specific concepts, some of which resonate with how we nurture the children’s learning at Parsons Green Prep. Shoshin, or ‘the beginner’s mind’, is about being open-minded, eager to learn and free of preconceptions. Wabi-sabi, ‘peace in imperfection’, is a concept that encourages an appreciation that nothing is truly perfect or permanent. Both shoshin and wabi-sabi suggest ways to frame challenges and find strength in the process of learning. You can read more here.
