What a flurry of princesses, wizards, detectives and football players, plus lots of other characters from some of our favourite books, for World Book Day. The school assembled for a fashion parade and we are really looking forward to DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) later on. Well done everyone – reading is so important for learning, relaxation and fun.
Reception’s Quirky Story has been The Smartest Giant in Town and we took the line ‘My shirts on a boat for a sail for a goat’ and used our STEAM skills to be the Smartest Giant and make our very own boat out of different materials. We tested our engineering skills by seeing if our boats sank or floated. Great work everyone!
Year 5 created these amazing lino prints inspired by the work of Victorian designer William Morris. They worked really hard at creating a repeat pattern and learning how to remove parts of their design using the lino tools. Beautiful and creative!
Parsons Green Prep hosted five schools in a Year 3 tag rugby festival at Hurlingham Park. It was a round robin format, where each school got the chance to play against each other. The festival was played with excellent spirit and it was great to see the progression the children made throughout the afternoon. Well done to everybody and thank you to Brighton College Prep Kensington, Prospect House, Wandsworth Prep, Pembridge Hall and Merlin School for travelling and showing excellent sportsmanship.
Great things have been going on in Art Club. We used the work of artist Jasper Johns as our inspiration, who created a series using the numbers 0-9. Pupils chose three numbers and drew round templates, putting the numbers on top of each other and some upside down. They added circles to create sections to colour in using watercolour paints and they outlined the shapes with a fine black pen. For the remainder of the term, pupils are using the numbers again as a starting point but selecting different mediums and showing their own creative styles. Well done to the artists.
